Jack C. Westman, M.D., M.S., is professor emeritus of psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and
Public Health. He is president of Wisconsin Cares, Inc., a nonprofit advocacy organization for families, and
has been president of three professional organizations. He has written more than 150 professional
publications and12 books.
Dr. Westman's personal experience with cancer in loved ones inspired him to extensively review the history and
current status of cancer care and research. In his book, he shares the knowledge he gained with the aim of
empowering people and encouraging them to advocate focusing research on strengthening the body's immune
system to prevent and stop the process of neoplasia that forms cancer cells and thereby improve cancer care.
